About Our Surgery

Welcome to our practice!

Quantock Vale Surgery is a dispensing partnership with three full-time doctors, supported by a nurse practitioner, the practice nursing team and administrative staff. The community nursing, health visiting and community midwifery teams also operate from the surgery premises. Our aim is to provide the highest standard of medical care, with a friendly, courteous and professional approach.

The practice is well-established, having been started in 1948 by Dr Philip Woodgate-Jones, based in what was the Skittle Alley of the Bell Inn! The current surgery premises were built in the early 1970’s and extended twice since, with the latest addition being the Pharmacy in 2000.

The practice has grown since the early days. We now serve 6000 patients in Bishops Lydeard, Cotford St Luke and the surrounding villages and hamlets and the list size continues to grow steadily as new housing developments are built.

The practice area stretches from Crowcombe in the north, to Tolland in the west, Oake and Norton Fitzwarren in the south and Kingston St Mary and the outskirts of Taunton in the east. We welcome all who move into this area to register with the practice.

We work within Somerset Integrated Care Board, which is responsible for the provision of health care throughout Somerset. The ICB is based in Yeovil and can be contacted on 01935 384000, or via their website: https://nhssomerset.nhs.uk/

Our Values

  • Putting our patients first

The care we provide is driven by the needs of the patient.

  • Working with patients

Developing a good relationship with our patients is important to us. We encourage patients to be actively involved in making decisions about their own health, wellbeing and care.

  • Working together

We are committed to continuity of care with a personal approach. We believe that working with patients and other health care organisations will lead to better patient care and outcomes.
