Carers Information

A carer is anyone who looks after someone who is unable to cope on their own, without being paid to do so.

Caring for someone can be physically and emotionally demanding and the carer’s own health can be affected. As a practice, we are committed to providing support and guidance to carers, so please let us know if you are a carer.

We have a Carers Champion in the practice; you can talk to Anna if you would like some help or advice. We have a leaflet for carers; please ask at reception.

Several forms of assistance are available for carers, including financial support, help with employment, help in providing care, and support groups. All carers have the right to a carer’s assessment by social services, to help determine the level of support that they need. You can contact the Somerset Carers Service via 0800 3168600 or click on the button below. Caring for another person is very rewarding, but can be overwhelming and lonely at times. Outside of the COVID pandemic, a carers group is held in the surgery on the second Tuesday of every month from 2:30 – 4pm. Information regarding this will be available in the surgery once we are up and running again.
