Obtaining Test Results, Blood Test and Samples
Samples to be tested in the laboratory are collected from Quantock Vale Surgery at around 12:30 every weekday. Appointments for blood tests are only available in the morning for this reason. If you are asked to hand in a specimen, please ensure that the name and date of birth of the patient are written clearly on the container and that we receive it by noon (weekdays only).
Laboratory Test Results
If you have had blood tests or x-rays organised by the practice, the doctor will normally only contact you, by letter or telephone, if any action needs to be taken. For your own peace of mind, we suggest that you contact the practice to find out your results. The receptionists can only tell you the result of the test; they cannot explain them to you.
Some test results can take a week to come back. Telephone after 3:00pm, please, to give your doctor time to review your results.
In order to comply with patient confidentiality, we will only release test results to the patient themselves unless we have prior written authority otherwise.
